Over the years, Pilkington Automotive developed a large number of glass operations around the world, each with their local identity. Several other brand names have been absorbed by the Pilkington Automotive brand such as Triplex, SIV, Libbey-Owens-Ford (LOF), and Blindex.  In 2006 Nippon Sheet Glass of Japan who already owned 20% of the company, purchased the remaining 80% reportedly to be able to take on Asahi Glass, the world's number one player. NSG believes its close ties to Toyota and Honda will help it secure more business from the car sector, Pilkington's biggest market.  Pilkington provides glazing for one in three of the world's vehicles and supply all of the major vehicle groups including Toyota, GM, Ford, Daimler, VW, Renault/Nissan, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Honda BMW and Volvo.



 
PPG - PGW Started in 1883, PPG has been designing, improving and manufacturing automotive windshields since they were invented and the tradition of innovation and quality continues to this day. PPG's global presence has enabled them to build a history of supplying quality automotive glass and for both OEM and replacement markets to the top car companies in the world. In August of 2008, PPG sold the majority stake in its auto glass business to a New York private equity group called Kohlberg & Co. LLC.  PPG Industries Inc's automotive glass business is now called PGW, Pittsburgh Glass Works. 5/23/09 PPG Industries Inc.'s spin-off Pittsburgh Glass Works LLC has entered into a partnership with Daimler AG to supply automotive glass to the German vehicle manufacturer. Under the new, multi-year contract, Pittsburgh Glass Works will be the primary windshield, door and rear windows' supplier for Mercedes-Benz cars and sport utility vehicles. Pittsburgh Glass Works, PPG's former Automotive Glass unit, was spun off last year with 60 percent of the company owned by affiliates of Kohlberg & Co. and 40 percent owned by PPG.

 

Sekurit, Autover,  Claims to be the number one automotive replacement glass in Europe. Saint Gobain/Sekurit has been the long-time OEM supplier to some of the finest automobiles worldwide including Audi and Volkswagen as well as many others.

 

 

Vitro, S.A. de C.V, through its subsidiary companies, is one of the world's leading glass producers. Trademarked by several other names, such as Crimanex, Vitro Flex, VPM and others, Vitro is an OEM supplier to many foreign and domestic auto manufacturers.

 

 

Vivex is Venezuela's largest OEM auto glass supplier to automotive manufacturers worldwide. Formed in 1964, Vivex's primary customers are, Toyota, MMC-Hyundai, General Motors and Ford Motor Company. In addition, Vivex provides products to heavy transport such as ENCAVA, Andean, Iveco, Intercar and others. Vivex has exported replacement parts to the U.S.A., Brazil, Colombia and Italy since 1985.
